Going outIn the surroundings of Inverness there are numerous possibilities for biking, hiking, fishing and skating. In the neighbourhood many crystal clear rivers stream towards the coast with a constant temperature of 22ºC. This is one of the reasons that the rare manatee (sea cows) look for the mouths of the river to be able to winter. There are ample possibilities to rent small boats or to make a river cruise. Somewhat more to the South, as from Clearwater, you will find the beautiful sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. About one half hour to the North the town is Ocala, a town with modern shopping facilities and many good restaurants. Ocala is world famous because of its horse breeding. To the South, in and around Orlando (app. one hour by car), are the large entertainment parks like Disney World, Epcot Centre, Sea World, Universal Studio's and not forgetting the well known factory outlets, can be found. Somewhat North East of Tampa ( approx. one and a quarter hours by car) lays Busch Gardens a park based upon the plains of Africa with all its local wildlife. This can be linked up with a free visit to the Budweiser brewery - who is the owner of the park. For the real culture lover a visit of the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg is a must. More to the East is it about a two hours drive to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. |
